DVDs are becoming less commonly used, with them taking up so much space and not being the best quality, it is no wonder why people are turning away from them. A newly adopted world of online streaming has joined the mix, where people are able to stream movies and tv shows from an online platform. Some of the most popular streaming services include Netflix and Prime Video. With them being subscription software that you can use to stream shows onto your television or computer with ease. These subscription fees can help you to save money by not needing to purchase multiple DVDs to be able to watch all of your favourite films and shows. They make it possible for you to watch them without the hassle, without needing extra storage for them all. Online streaming is taking over the world, and it is easy to understand why when they offer such an easy alternative to DVDs.

DVDs are becoming less commonly used as the days pass. With a lot of television no longer being built with DVD players. Streaming services are taking over by providing us with these films on one platform without the need to store DVDs. So, what should we be doing with unwanted DVDs?

When people have unwanted items, commonly they will try to sell them. The issue with DVDs is that they have gone down in value. This means it may not be worth your time to sell your unwanted DVDs when it can take forever and only make a small amount of money.

Alternatively, we would suggest that you donate these to a charity shop. This way you are giving a charity a helping hand with your excellent donation. They will also have more time to sell the DVDs as it does not matter how long they are sat on their shelves for.

Previously, we have discussed ways that you can sell your unwanted DVDs. But even if you do try every way to sell these unwanted DVDs, you may become stuck with them. Collectors and families may not want to buy all of your DVDs, meaning you need to find another way to dispose of them before throwing them in the rubbish. Well, this is where repurposing your old DVDs comes into play.

Now, there is not much you can do with old DVDs, but here are a few ideas, Firstly you can use DVDs as a bird repellent for anywhere you are growing crops. The light reflecting off of the discs will scare away birds and many other animals.

Another option you have is to get creative. You can make DVDs into many different decorations with a splash of paint and some googly eyes. Spiders at Halloween, snowmen during Christmas. The ideas with paint become endless.

1- Unfriended
A movie that in our opinion changed our view on horror movies. Brining an up to date twist to the world of horror films. With most being set back in time, this one is recent. This one is online-based, giving us a true feeling of what horror could happen online.

2- IT
Both versions of this classic horror movie by Stephen King are amazing. If you haven’t watched both of these films and read the story then you need to add them to your list! The way they are directed and filmed is truly astonishing.

3- Annabelle
A horror movie that made me realise my true love for horror films. This one is completely different to the previous two focusing upon haunted items in a haunted house. You’ll be taken through a story with many jump scares in this film!

Like Video Tapes, there comes a point where everything turns irrelevant. With videotapes, it was the introduction of DVDs, a new and improved way to watch these films. A way where you didn’t need to rewind them all the way to the beginning to watch them again. The same thing has been happening with DVDs. Whilst some are still relevant, there aren’t many. DVDs are only relevant now for the older classics which you can not find elsewhere. TVs are no longer built with the DVD player built-in. This is because they are not relevant. DVDs are not relevant for the main reason of online streaming platforms. They have taken the world by storm, allowing everyone to watch a large selection of movies and documentaries from one streaming platform. With the likes of Netflix, Prime Video, and Disney+ being the top two streaming platforms for movies. Long gone are the days of needing to store all the DVDs of your favourite movies. Most are no available at a click of a few buttons. With you being able to pay monthly for unlimited watches of endless movies, documentaries, and TV series. With the endless opportunities, this can save you more money than purchasing all of the DVDs new. As we mentioned before, some DVDs are still relevant. With not all movies being displayed on these platforms. If you want the largest selection of movies available to you, you will need to have all the platforms available which can become expensive. With these also increasing their prices due to the demand. So, the answer is no. DVDs like videotapes are no longer relevant. We no longer need them to watch the latest film releases. We can do this right from our home, displaying the latest release right from our own TV.

There will come a point in your life where your DVDs are no longer wanted. Whether you have watched them too many times, you fancy a change, or they no longer take your fancy. Selling your unwanted DVDs will give you a little extra cash to put towards something new.

When you are thinking about selling your unwanted DVDs you must do some research first. Research the price which people are currently selling the DVD for. With some old classics going for high prices, you would not want to miss out on the opportunity.

You should also consider the platform you are going to sell on. If you are after a quick sale Facebook Market Place or a car boot sale sill be your best place. However, if you are hoping to gain a little bit more for them, placing them on eBay will allow this opportunity, however, they may go for less on eBay.
