Like Video Tapes, there comes a point where everything turns irrelevant. With videotapes, it was the introduction of DVDs, a new and improved way to watch these films. A way where you didn’t need to rewind them all the way to the beginning to watch them again. The same thing has been happening with DVDs. Whilst some are still relevant, there aren’t many. DVDs are only relevant now for the older classics which you can not find elsewhere. TVs are no longer built with the DVD player built-in. This is because they are not relevant. DVDs are not relevant for the main reason of online streaming platforms. They have taken the world by storm, allowing everyone to watch a large selection of movies and documentaries from one streaming platform. With the likes of Netflix, Prime Video, and Disney+ being the top two streaming platforms for movies. Long gone are the days of needing to store all the DVDs of your favourite movies. Most are no available at a click of a few buttons. With you being able to pay monthly for unlimited watches of endless movies, documentaries, and TV series. With the endless opportunities, this can save you more money than purchasing all of the DVDs new. As we mentioned before, some DVDs are still relevant. With not all movies being displayed on these platforms. If you want the largest selection of movies available to you, you will need to have all the platforms available which can become expensive. With these also increasing their prices due to the demand. So, the answer is no. DVDs like videotapes are no longer relevant. We no longer need them to watch the latest film releases. We can do this right from our home, displaying the latest release right from our own TV.
